I work closely with the local chambers of commerce in the communities I serve and sponsor an annual small business conference to assist local business.
Our small business conferences have focused on a variety of issues of interest to small business owners and prospective entrepreneurs. Past topics have included strategies to encourage shoppers to “Buy Local,” enhance cyber-security and identify affordable healthcare options for small businesses.
In Albany, I have supported many innovative state economic development efforts, including Taste NY, Start-up NY, Path through History and Regional Economic Council programs. Governor Cuomo has made a dedicated effort to increase tourism and support growing New York industries, such as agriculture, yogurt, wine and spirits, beer, solar and nano-technology. The new Tappan Zee Bridge project has brought new jobs to our region, as has the increased focus on infrastructure projects throughout the state.
We need continued growth in the economy in all sectors and increased hiring to reduce unemployment. Small business is a major part of the growth we need.
